Tom LaPille is a veteran collectible-game designer with deep experience across both tabletop and digital TCGs. He spent six years on Magic: The Gathering R&D, leading final design on major sets like Magic 2012, Dark Ascension, Born of the Gods, Dragons of Tarkir, and Modern Masters 2015, as well as helping shape the Modern format and Magic Online products. After Wizards, he became Lead Designer for Skylanders Battlecast at Activision, guiding card design, AI scripting, art pipelines, and monetization. He is now Director of Game Design at Pocket Gems, where he leads prototyping, feature design, and the studio’s game-design hiring process, with a focus on story-driven mobile games.
