Matthew Stewart is a freelance illustrator and oil painter known for bringing classical realism to imaginative and fantastical subjects. His work is created through a traditional process involving extensive sketching, reference gathering, and study from life. A 1999 graduate of Parsons School of Design with a BFA in Illustration, he has worked extensively in gaming and publishing for clients including Wizards of the Coast, Fantasy Flight Games, Blizzard Entertainment, The Easton Press, Night Shade Books, and Tor Books. Stewart has illustrated more than 200 Magic: The Gathering cards. He lives in Runnemede, New Jersey, with his wife, Gina, and their three cats.
