Julie Dillon is an award-winning American illustrator known for her luminous digital paintings in science fiction and fantasy. Active professionally since 2006, she works in bold colour palettes—especially warm yellows—and blends fantastical imagery with everyday observational inspiration. Dillon has earned multiple Hugo, Chesley, and Locus Awards, created covers for Tor, Angry Robot, and Penguin, and published two personal art books, Imagined Realms. Despite major accolades, she continues to freelance, citing the feast-or-famine nature of the industry. In 2025 she launched a Kickstarter for Daydreamer’s Journey, a 200-page retrospective of her 20-year career.
